The Worlds Party – Be There

The world’s sailing glitterati will descend on Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club this weekend to celebrate the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships in true Western Australian style.

In what organisers promise will be “an elegantly casual fiesta of food and entertainment,” the Worlds Party is set to be a highlight of the Perth 2011 social calendar.

“It is going to be a night to remember,” Perth 2011 Event Director John Longley said. “The Worlds Party will be a wonderful opportunity to meet athletes and coaches from all over the world.

“There will be rising stars in the sport of sailing together with legends of the sport such as John Bertrand and Iain Murray in what promises to be a fabulous showcase of the very best of Western Australia.

Guests will be treated to foods from around the world – as well as fresh local seafood – while being entertained by Indigenous and international dancers and musicians.

While the Worlds Party will play host to the who’s who of the international sailing world, event manager Jay McDaniell says the event will be a classy but relaxed affair.

“We want to provide an experience that bridges the international character of the competitors and the event with the laid back nature that is of course quintessentially Australian,” he said.

The event will also feature acts such as “The Bad Piper”, the James Morrison Motown Experience, the Sub Dividers along with a fireworks display.

The Worlds Party will kick off at 1900 on Saturday, 10 December at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club. Tickets are $220 and can be purchased by calling Perth 2011 on (08) 9335 2688 or Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club on (08) 9384 9100.
